TEMPORARY VISA – CANADA
Extend your study permit or restore your status
Your study permit has an expiry date which determines when you have to stop studying and leave Canada. The expiry date for a study permit is usually the length of your study program and an additional 90 days to give you time to prepare to leave Canada, or extend your permit.
You must apply to extend your permit at least 30 days before the permit expiry date. If your permit has already expired, you must apply for a new study permit or restore your status as a temporary Canadian resident.
Eligibility
You must meet the following conditions to maintain your status and remain in Canada until your application has a decision:
- Your extension application must be submitted online (unless exempt)
- To apply online, you’ll need a scanner or camera to create electronic copies of your documents, and a valid credit or debit card.
- The application must be completed by including
- biometrics
- fees
- other applicable requirements
You must submit your application before your temporary residence status expires.
